The September ‘Women’s Style Issue’ of WSJ Magazine might not hit the newsstands until later this week, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some fashion fun to be had this morning! Today, we’re being treated to a sneak preview of the highly-anticipated issue to come, including an inside look at the glossy’s gorgeous new model spread!
Shot by photographer Josh Olins, the editorial ‘Lush Life’ showcases the best of this season’s riches, as modeled by actress and rising top model, Drake Burnette. Set on the sprawling outdoor contemporary art center “Inhotim” founded by millionaire art collector Bernardo Paz in the southeast of Brazil, the photos draw a striking contrast between the site’s stunning, tropical scenery and the lavish fall designs. For her cover shot, Drake poses serenely against a backdrop of wild flowers in a romantic white lace Dolce & Gabbana dress, before diving into a range of contrasting looks that run the gambit from Alexander McQueen to Proenza Schouler and Louis Vuitton among others.
Having only made her fashion week debut during the February collections, Drake is showing the breadth of her potential with WSJ this month, and we’ll admit, we’re impressed! In just a few short months, the brunette beauty has gone from runway newbie to September issue cover girl, following in the footsteps of such other recent WSJ features as Natalia Vodianova, Kati Nescher and Carolyn Murphy. Needless to say, we’ll have our eyes on Drake throughout New York Fashion Week next month— clearly, this model is one to watch!
