Les Misérables (is a French historical novel by Victor Hugo, first published in 1862, that is widely considered one of the greatest novels of the nineteenth century. The title can be variously translated from the French as The MiserableThe WretchedThe Poor OnesThe Wretched Poor, or The Victims, but in the English-speaking world the novel is usually referred to by its original French title. Beginning in 1815 and culminating in the 1832 June Rebellion, the novel follows the lives and interactions of several characters, focusing on the struggles of ex-convict Jean Valjean and his experience of redemption.

Examining the nature of law and grace, the novel elaborates upon the history of France, the architecture and urban design of Paris, politics, moral philosophy, anti monarchist, justice, religion, and the types and nature of romantic and familial love. Les Misérables has been popularized through numerous stage adaptations, including a musical (1980-1985), and several films, including in 2012.

Ex-prisoner Jean Valjean is hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

This month magazines like Vogue and Architectural Digest have contributed to immortalize further Victor Hugo 's Novel with a twist of style  twist of style and inspiration from  English and French Old Master's paintings.

Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne are featured as their characters Cosette and Marius in these gorgeous new portraits in the December 2012 issue of Vogue magazine. The 26-year-old actress and 30-year-old actor are featured alongside their Les Miserables co-stars Hugh Jackman,Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway,Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, and Isabelle Allen in the photos shot by Annie Leibovitz. “The whole thing is really one big love story,” Amanda told Vogue. “There’s something about Les Mis that makes everyone see the world differently.

Architectural Digest  elaborates about the sumptuous movie set  depicting 19TH century Paris from historic references.
