It's a rainy Sunday in New York. With a large bowl of popcorns, a freshly squeezed orange juice and the laptop by my side, wearing a comfortable pajamas and wool socks Missony style  made my my aunt Traute from Germany, I fix the faux fur on my feet over the couch and make sure  my I-phone has full battery charge. I am now totally ready for the Oscar's Red Carpet count down.

This year I want to make sure to work seriously on my personal selection of who will be the best dressed among the ravishing stars showcase the best in couture according to American standards.

I also want to make sure that my criteria is not only the dress itself, but the hair, the make up, the jewelry and the overall dazzling light of the star. They might be wearing  wonderful dresses but  some botox are too accentuated , the tan can be the most appealing, the dress too but the hair do will spoil the composition. It's the overall , I am thinking of when I make my selection and rarely I am totally satisfied blaming myself for that as the efforts each star puts on this day on their wardrobes is truly humongous.  I

The images posted above on the gallery have been organized in order of preference and by color tones. My number one  Oscar of best dressed goes to:

Amy Adams: Wearing a gray Oscar de La Renta  gown accompanied by a log ad massive train I would have hoped though to see another color, but what you are going to do?

Actress Jennifer Lawrence opted to wear her hair pulled back as she walked the red carpet in a strapless Dior Haute Couture gown, reminiscent of a bride's dress. The color is ravishing, a light peach and cream, the fabric embossed with simple leaves beautiful, and the jewelry very elegant as it's suttle.delicate: Her long and thin necklace is worn in an original way on the back. Jennifer fell on her way to the stage learning she had worn the award for best actress.

Charlize Theron gown is simple yet elegant! In a bright white Dior Couture, she reflects  the glamour of authentic chic. Love it. Her face glows, reminding us slightly of Sharon Stone sex appeal. She non-shalantly comfortable and she knows it. This year I have noticed stars wearing more than one importnat diamond bracelets on their wrists! Don't do that.... it is not necessary, an important  piece  speaks for itself and one should leave the Arm Parties Man Repeller and teen bloggers of the Tumbler generation.

Prada was a last-minute decision for Anne Hathaway, who said she decided on her blush-colored dress only three hours before her red-carpet arrival. She paired her gown with a sparkly Tiffany necklace that I would have liked to see better resolved at her back. Although the dress is somehow stiff, it's original, the jewelry lovely . Anne hair has grown a little since her acting role in the Miserable and she looks quite adorable in her more than perfect skin tone and make up. Her conquering smile and  expressive and graciousness make you forget the rigidity of the dress. Well done!

After some questionable choices throughout awards season, Jessica Chastain finally hit a perfect note at the 85th annual Academy Awards in a metallic Armani Prive gown. "I chose it because I'm such a fan of movies, I love cinema so much, and when I saw it, it's a very 'Happy birthday Mr. President' dress," she said on the red carpet. "It reminds me of old Hollywood." She looks totaly perfect and the metallic color of the dress matches so well he beautiful red hair. Total glamour Jessica, and by the way , one of my favorites actresses this year in the movie  Zero Dark Thirty.

Nicole Kidman's dress sure did shine. The statuesque Australian sparkled in the L'Wren Scott. Only a few can wear L'Wren and Nicole is one of them! Very chic cherie!

Skyfall" songstress Adele, sporting a black " curtain"  gown, joked, "My dress weighs 50 kilos" and she was worried she would not have enogh comfort to sing. And she did beautifully. As usual  she wears the best make up. The diva's lipstick a pale earthy peach matches her long nails and her presence feeezes the audience. The  gorgeous blonde hair is  loose this time is not a bad thing and she has put a little weight and ,makes her look younger.
Jennifer Garner, in a strapless sophisticated plum Gucci gown , I would have liked to see bettter from the back, Halle Berry, in a black and silver-striped Versace dress, said she wanted to go "as a Bond girl to the Oscars." She wears it majestically although I find the dress too rigid, and not too fond of the geometric patterns.
Lincoln" star  Sally Field stood out in a red gown, while Jennifer Aniston, also in red, said her Valentino gown felt "very princess." Nice but predictable .  Reese Witherspoon opted for a strapless bright royal blue number with black across to the top, designed by Louis Vuitton. "I saw this dress and I just loved the color, " said Witherspoon, who also donned Louis Vuitton jewelry. Not my type, she was certainly not my pick this year.

The always entertaining Helena Bonham Carter walked the carpet with Tim Burtonwearing a black-and-white layered Vivienne Westwood dress  as usual that suited her eccentric persona (, while Salma Hayek's over-the-top vampy Alexander McQueen gown and its heavily embroidered neckline had only to her advantage her pretty and charming face.

The 43-year-old's  Catherine Zeta Jones wearing a  Zuhair Murad dress does not look very well.  Although Zuhair is a a top designers in mu opinion, the dress makes her older. So catherine,  please do better next time.

Rennee Zellweger chose a gold Carolina Herrera gown, one of her favorite designers and one she describes as "easy" to wear. Very sexy but somehow a little disturbing for looking too fitted, too perfect. I would have liked some softness.....
Kerry Washington walked the red carpet in a Miu Miu dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, a Prada bag, earrings by Chopard and a Fred Leighton ring. When asked about her dress' interesting hue, Washington described it as "Coral-ly, red, hot pink and copper...I can't really put a name on the color." Too much is too much.
