Stay at the New Me

by Joelle

ME London, the 5* flagship hotel of the ME by Meliá group, opened its doors this November introducing the Radio rooftop terrace lounge and bar to the London scene.

Radio is set to be one of the most significant rooftop bars in London (140 capacity), overlooking Somerset House and offering 180º panoramic views of the capital, from the heights of the city to the West End. The name “Radio” is a reference to the rich history of Marconi House, which is the site of the new ME London hotel.  Marconi House broke ground in 1922 by broadcasting the first regular programmes on British radiowaves; it is this heritage that the name celebrates.
Radio will serve a curated range of beers, wines and soft drinks with a quirky cocktail list from F&B maestros, The ONE Group.  Guests will be able to savour delights ranging from the fruityMile High Margarita (Cuervo Gold, Grand Marnier, Cointreau, Chambord, Cranberry & Lemonade) to the crisp and refreshing English Electric Company (Bombay Sapphire Gin, Mint & Lime topped with Moet & Chandon Brut).  Mediterranean-inspired menus will also be available throughout the day.
On the last Thursday of the month Radio rooftop bar, lounge & terrace at ME London hosts Frequency, London’s premium cocktail party. Each “Frequency” showcases cocktails, finger foods and great live DJ music from local, national and international music talent.
The project is the first flagship hotel in which everything, from the shell of the building to the bathroom fittings, has been designed by Foster + Partners.
ME London offers a luxe collection of 157 rooms, including 16 suites, and ultra-luxurious Suite ME and a two floor penthouse in the turret of the building. Room rates start from £340 p/n ex VAT.

The interiors fuse contemporary detailing and classic traditions, with a dramatic monochrome palette, as guests move from dark to light spaces.

The brand has been built on first-rate service, and ME London will be no exception. Each guest’s stay will be orchestrated by the dedicated “Aura Experience Manager“, whose job it is to know the city back-to-front and use this knowledge to make the hotel’s service truly bespoke.

Guests will be spoilt for choice with a number of outlets:

STK: The first British incarnation of this glam New York Steakhouse concept, STK will offer the latest female friendly dining experience from New York operators, The ONE Group. Centered around the bar and with an edgy aesthetic, American grill-style dishes will be served from midday through to late night.

Cucina Asellina: Situated on the ground floor, this authentic Italian restaurant, open from
brunch until late supper, will offer a range of simple dishes bringing elemental Italian flavours to life in innovative ways.

Radio: On the tenth floor, this rooftop terrace, lounge and bar celebrates the building’s roots in broadcasting. Radio is the only rooftop venue in the Strand / Aldwych area to be open from breakfast until late, and boasts fantastic 180 degree cloud skimming and panoramic views of London.

Marconi Lounge: Gracing the ME London hotel lobby is the bar and lounge named after
Guglielmo Marconi, inventor of the radio. A perfect backdrop for meetings throughout the day, the mood will shift to an upbeat ME vibe by late afternoon with an inviting and vibrant atmosphere. (Shinesquad)
